McTrainer Guide: Training, Ranked PvP, Bots, Replays and Stats
A practical guide to McTrainer: focused Minecraft PvP training, ranked and unranked duels, bots, replays, ratings, stats and useful training routines.

A practical guide to McTrainer: focused Minecraft PvP training, ranked and unranked duels, bots, replays, ratings, stats and useful training routines.
McTrainer is a Minecraft Java Edition PvP server built around improvement, not just matchmaking.
You can isolate a mechanic in training, test it against a bot, use it in real duels and then review the result through stats or a replay. That makes McTrainer different from a normal practice server: the training tools, PvP queues and progress tracking are designed to work together.
Server address: mctrainer.club
| Area | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Training | Practise one mechanic without the noise of a full fight |
| Ranked Training | Record comparable runs and build training ratings |
| Sandbox Training | Adjust settings and repeat a difficult movement or sequence |
| Ranked PvP | Play kit-based competitive matches for SR |
| Unranked PvP | Warm up, test layouts and practise without changing SR |
| Bot Duels | Fight repeatable AI opponents at different difficulty levels |
| Replays | Review rounds, inventory states and key mistakes |
| Profiles and Stats | Track ratings, personal bests, match history and activity |
The simplest first session is:
mctrainer.club./training./bot./queue./stats or your profile on mctrainer.club./replay after a match and review one mistake. You do not need to learn every command. These are the main ones:
The Training Browser is divided into five categories. Each category contains short exercises focused on one part of Minecraft PvP.
Grid Flicking trains fast movement from one target to another.
Small Flicking uses smaller targets and rewards cleaner stopping.
Smooth Tracking measures how consistently you keep your crosshair on a moving target. It can track values such as weighted accuracy, raw accuracy and headshot percentage.
Use Aim Training as a warm-up, but keep it short. Ten focused minutes are usually more useful than chasing scores for an entire session.
Totem Reaction focuses on replacing protection immediately after a pop.
Totem Speed focuses on completing the refill quickly and cleanly.
These exercises are useful when you know what to do in a fight but lose time during the inventory movement.
Anchor Speed trains fast placement and detonation.
Safe Speed Anchor asks for the same sequence without relying on totems.
Anchor Destruction and Safe Anchor Destruction focus on breaking through ten layers as quickly and cleanly as possible.
The safe variants matter because they expose sloppy execution. Surviving a mistake is not the same as performing the sequence correctly.
Mace fights involve several mechanics at once, so McTrainer separates them:
First Hit is about winning the opening sword contact.
Shield Break trains the axe response when a shield is raised.
Sword Combo rewards chained sprint-knockback hits before the bot can answer.
These modes are useful when full duels feel too broad. Instead of “practising Sword,” you can work on the exact moment where your fights usually go wrong.
Learn in Sandbox. Verify in Ranked.
Sandbox settings vary by exercise and can include target size, speed, duration, timing windows, spawn behaviour and other difficulty controls.
Ranked Training records performance for the selected exercise. Those runs contribute to mode ratings, category progress, leaderboards and personal best data. Training ratings are separate from PvP SR.
Open /queue and choose between Ranked and Unranked.
Each kit entry can show the active queue population, average wait, current queue status and, in Ranked, your SR or placement progress.
Use Unranked when you are changing a layout, learning a matchup or carrying a new mechanic from training into live combat.
Use Ranked when your setup feels stable and you want a meaningful competitive result.
Players can select and edit saved layouts for these kit families. The active layout is the one used when joining a queue or starting a Bot Duel.
Custom kits are Unranked only.
Depending on access and preference, players can search for matches using their own kit, the opponent’s kit or either compatible option.
In a direct Custom duel, both players use the challenger’s Custom kit.
Ranked Vanilla matchmaking separates different loadout styles instead of treating every crystal or anchor setup as identical. The queue can distinguish types such as Drain, Eval and Custom.
Ranked Cart PvP uses separate LT3 and HT3+ brackets.
SR means Skill Rating. McTrainer keeps a separate rating for every Ranked PvP kit.
A strong Sword rating does not automatically affect Pot, Mace or Vanilla.
Each kit requires five placement matches. During placements, the interface shows your current SR, tier and progress from 0/5 to 5/5.
After five matches, the kit becomes eligible for ranked leaderboard placement.
Ranked matchmaking searches within the same compatible kit queue.
It compares:
The system prefers the strongest available match. It also penalises recent repeat pairings when another suitable opponent exists.
The allowed SR gap becomes wider the longer both players wait. That prevents queues from staying stuck while still favouring close matches first.
When a match is found, players may see an estimated SR swing, SR gap and match quality. These are previews, not guaranteed final changes.
Unranked matchmaking is simpler. It looks for another available player in the same compatible queue and does not use the result to update ranked SR.
Open /stats to view your training and combat data.
Training statistics can include:
The Training Browser also shows exercise-specific personal bests, ranked runs, standings and leaderboard entries.
On mctrainer.club, public player profiles can show:
Use the profile as a review page, not only as a leaderboard page. It quickly shows which kits or training categories you have ignored.
Open /bot to fight an AI opponent.
Bot Duels are Unranked and do not affect normal player-versus-player combat statistics.
After choosing a preset, select the kit. The duel uses your active saved layout for that kit.
The Custom Bot lets you build a specific practice opponent.
A useful Custom Bot session has one goal. For example:
Use /replay to browse your matches.
A replay entry can show:
You can open an available replay, add it to favourites and move through multiple pages of history.
Do not watch the whole replay without a question.
Examples:
Parties are used for playing with friends, Party Duels and Party FFA.
Some solo actions can be blocked while you are in a party so the group is not split across separate sessions.
Use /duel <player> to send a challenge.
The challenger can select:
Direct duels are always Unranked.
If the challenger is leading a party with multiple members, the request becomes a Party Duel. Party Duels are unavailable while Party FFA mode is active.
A useful session does not need to be long.
After the session, review one replay or one statistic.
Measure → Diagnose → Isolate → Repeat → Verify
Pause the ranked session when the same mistake causes two or three losses.
Do not keep queueing and hope it disappears. Review the replay, isolate the problem and return when you have a clear correction.
McTrainer works best when you use its features as one system:
Pick one weakness, train it deliberately and then test it in a real match. That is the fastest way to get value from McTrainer.
